This has been the best experience I’ve had ! Most vets don’t like to care for cats, no clue why. I took my eldest cat to them as she jumped off the bed and hurt her leg. Everyone I dealt with was very caring and treated my cat like she was their own. The vets were caring and thorough. Amazing experience for a very scared fur mom! Read Less

If I could give no stars I would! My dog had major surgery and had to go here for an overnight stay to be comfortable, and everyone acted confused and incompetent as soon as we walked in. They made her wait three hours in the waiting room. They cut her foot while taking her blood pressure, and not until we called the next day did they admit to it. The vet and techs' were so rude. This place could not be more unprofessional and for the price you pay bringing your pet here you would think that they would care and be kind. They were questioning everything that the Vet did before getting there and didn't want to follow orders. We would never recommend this place. Read Less

From the time we came through the front door we were met by staff and doctors that obviously care greatly about the welfare of our animal family. This was the second time at this facility and our confidence in everyone at VMC of CNY only increased. 4 veterinarians were involved in our pet's care and each appeared to be extremely caring and competent. We came to VMC to get a second opinion because we were less than impressed with a different vet office we'd visited the day prior. We were there under bad circ*mstances, but everyone did a very good job. We saw Dr. Knapp. We appreciated her candor. She explained our cat's condition and the options available thoroughly. In the future, I would drive a little farther to take my pet here first for any urgent care issues, rather than start with an appointment at a less well equipped place. Read Less

Can't thank them enough! Wasn't sure what was going on with my cat, all I knew was she was acting strange and this place promptly got her in and figured out the issue. Not only did they take good care of her, they even called me today to follow up on how she was doing! Also, the price for an emergency visit was not as bad as I had anticipated. The staff were all so wonderful during a very stressful time for me (and my cat). The Doctor on duty was such a lovely person. Everyone was calm and caring. I knew we were in good hands. Do not bring your pets here! This place did nothing for my dog who was just attacked by another dog. They wanted another 2500 to watch her over night after I had just paid them 800 for an xray. I didn't have it to pay up front and she died a suffering death on the way home. Very uncompassionate people. My local vet would have done anything to help her. Today I brought my cat who was limping and refusing to eat or drink here. The staff and doctor were some of the sweetest people I've ever met. They were understanding and sympathetic, especially when she had to be put to sleep. I love that they give a complimentary paw print of your deceased animal. I definitely recommend this place. Two experiences here. One was good. Cat had a UTI, visit was good, went in, doctor saw the cat, got meds and all went well. Second, was not so good. Cat had an infection of her kidneys and liver. Doctor walks in, doesn't even look at the cat and says the cat needs to go to Cornell. I'm astonished that I had to pay $150 or whatever it was for just that. Could have saved me the trip. The staff there is friendly, but the vet on duty was about as warm as a chest freezer. Good news: didn't take the cat to Cornell, and Liverpool Village Animal Hospital did a superb job of healing the cat.Read Less

Last week I had my first experience here, and continue to be pleased with every aspect. We brought my fur baby, Hugo, in for a bladder obstruction and he was immediately taken in for testing. We were told every step of the way how much to expect the cost to be, from tests to treatment. He spent two days there for treatment and observation, and I called different hours each day to check on my boy. The staff was always very friendly- they never seemed bothered by my calls, even when I talked to the vet for 20 minutes asking a million questions! This is very important to me, not being rushed or made to feel like I'm wasting their time. They encourage visits during your pet's stay, so I did stop by to see him. They were considerate of another cat healing from a procedure in a nearby kennel and asked me to come later than I was thinking, to give him/her time to rest, and I was more than happy to wait. I have called several times after bringing Hugo home to ask for advice or make sure he was ok because of course I'm paranoid, and they asked me several questions in return to give me accurate information. Tonight, I called again to ask if I can pick up more prescription cat food to get me through until I can see my regular vet and they were glad to help and asked how Hugo is doing. I have spoken to several different staff members, and all seem to genuinely care about the animals they care for and do everything they can for them and their owners. I hope I don't have an emergency again for any of my babies, but if I do I take comfort in knowing the Veterinary Medical Center of CNY is not far away and I can trust them to care for my cats! Brought in my Siamese Cream Puff for an Allergy/possible infection. The staff brought us right back and were passionate and very knowledgeable about what they were doing. Miserable experience. Dr Mulligan apparently was too busy to see our pet. A waste of time in the middle of the night. As usual, Dr Guest at Fairmount saved the day and our dog. I wouldn't take my coat to this place, rude staff, everyone half asleep. I should have known there wasa problem when NO PATIENTS were there. Save your dollars and yourpet. Dr. Cortright is an amazing Vet! She loves her patients, and does her utmost to make them well. Her assistant, Kim, is adored by our ''Benny'', and he thinks that Tracy is pretty cool, as well. Could not ask for a better group to care for Benny. We brought our cat in for a blocked urinary tract, and for being a unexpected and scary experience the folks at the Veterinary center of CNY made the experience so much better. They took the time to really explain everything to us, and make us feel comfortable with the care and procedures he had to receive. They called us with updates often, and were always able to answer any questions during his stay and after. Everyone on the staff was so friendly and helpful. My sister and I had to bring her boxer Max in late Tuesday night 11/19/16, because he wasnt doing so well. The staff came out with the stretcher and got him out of the car and brought him inside. They took him in the back right away. Everyone from the beginning to end when we left were so pleasant and caring and professional. My sister and i were emotional and upset and the staff the way they were put us at ease. Cause we knew he was going to be ok. Thank you all at the vetinarian hospital for what you all did that night. I went to visit him yesterday and he was his old self jumping all over me and giving me sloppy kisses like a thank you. Unfortunetly the vet said he might be epileptic. But he should be ok. Last year, I brought in Chewy, a very sick Dogue de Bordeaux. He had pneumonia from being in a mall pet store. I remember one of the doctors taking special care of him because she had recently lost her French mastiff around the same time. I felt like he was really cared for by everyone there. Chewy is very healthy now, and a very big boy. At one year, he is 120lbs and still growing. He was had a clean bill of health since. Taking round the clock care of our boy paid off. He was instantly part of our family from the second we saw him and because of everyone who took care of him, he still is. He sleeps in our bed, needs to be with us all the time, is really great with our small kids and he plays with other dogs, no problem. He also comes to my business with me and has become somewhat of a mascott. My customers are disappointed if I don't bring him. If the doctors didn't help us, I don't think he would have made it. He was very sick when I brought him in. I was not expecting the high cost but once I saw the level of care he needed, I understood. It was terrifying. In human terms, he was critical and needed immediate attention, which they gave. Lucky for us, Mr. Chew pulled through and not without these vets. Thank you.Read Less

Our 7.5 month old goldendoodle, Ellie, recently broke her leg. We brought her to the Emergency Department at Veterinary Medical Center of CNY and we were extremely pleased with the care she received. Dr. Mulligan was the vet on staff when we arrived. She was very informational and compassionate. Everything was explained to us in detail and most importantly our pet was taken in and tended to promptly. We went to visit Ellie every day for the 4 days she was there and we were always extremely well received. Dr. Craft took time to comfort and talk to us and get behind on her paperwork toward the end of her shift to give us a tour of the rehab facility after hours, knowing we would be interested and needed the distraction. Dr. Robinson (who performed Ellie's surgical fracture repair) spoke with us and told us what to expect every step of the way. His obvious expertise and professional demeanor went a long way to decrease the stress of the situation; we were kept "in the loop" the entire time, 24/7. It is no surprise that Dr. Robinson is as accomplished as he is; a true professional. It was not just the doctors we were pleased with; every tech, aide, and even the clerical staff (too many to mention by name) were amazing. We did not meet one member of the staff who was not pleasant and did not seem to completely empathize with what we were going through. The level of communication was impeccable, prices were fair, and most importantly our fur baby was returned to us healthy and sound. We had a great experience here this past weekend. Our dog had an allergic reaction to what was most likely a bee sting. Very reasonable price for being an emergency service. He even needed more meds the next day and they were fantastic and allowed us to pick them up. Just over a year ago we received horrible news that our 5yr old beagle, Percy, had lymphoma with only two weeks left to live. We were very fortunate that out vet suggested we give VMC of CNY a call. We were even luckier to see dr Rassnick later that day. That day we started a long journey to keep Percy in our life. We made 1hr trips every 1-2 weeks for treatments, knowing eventually we would lose the battle to lymphoma. Because of their excellent care, we got to spend just over a year with Percy. We would do it all over again for that extra time. I can't say enough about Dr Rassnick and the staff in the specialty care. They spent so much energy and caring with us and Percy. He was treated like a celebrity. Special thanks to Lindsey also. We also want to thank the teams in the 24hr side, as they helped us out if multiple scares over his last months. I took my dog here earlier this week since he had not been eating and was very lethargic. The staff made me feel well informed about what was going on, explained everything in great detail. All the staff was very nice and compassionate, as I ended up having to put my dog down. It was the hardest thing that I've had to do and they were wonderful in giving me the time I needed. I will never take another one of my animals to this vet again nor will I recommend them to any one I know that cares deeply about a pet. In June of 2016 our lab was refereed there for a possible splenic tumor. He was in severe distress when we arrived (heartrate over 210). We were told that once they went in to see what was going on, there was a chance he would be fine if the mass was removed successfully. We were called later that evening and told the mass was removed and when I asked if he was going to be fine I was told yes. The very next day a different vet told us that wasn't true, that if the mass came back cancerous he would only have about 90 days at best. Due to his age and size the chances it was cancer were 95%. This was after they already charged us $6800 and removed the mass! Money we did not have. After an additional fee of $2200 because now his heart was messed up due to the surgery and he had to stay 2 extra days, we left with our dog. He died 11 days later. He was never the same dog again. Instead of them being 100% honest and advising us that night that the risk and chances of his life being normal again were not great and financially we should let him go, I feel they took advantage of a family with 2 young men who wanted to not let go of their beloved best friend and cost us an extremely large amount of money for nothing. My family has been in financial hardship since and we do not have our pet! Read Less

Our experience was somewhat satisfactory. We were the only ones there when we arrived shortly after 7pm on a Saturday evening. But sat in the exam room for close to an hour before the actual vet came in. We were told what was going to happen and maybe to our being overwhelmed with all that was happening or the vet not telling us they would sedate our dog, we were not happy he was sedated. Didn't see why he was. Injuries didn't seem that extreme. Our other dog was also sedated which we knew would be needed and put stitches and a drain tube in. They said they would fax the info. of what they did to our regular vet so we could have her stitches and drain tube removed but 3 days later and 2 phone calls, my vet still has no fax. He needs a summary of what VMC did and I need to see what my vet recommends for removal of her stitches and drain tube. Feeling frustrated. Read Less

I had to take our dog here when he went downhill fast in a couple of days. They took him in immediately. The tech, the vet and the girls at the window were very compassionate and helpful. Yesterday our chocolate Labrador had to have emergent surgery for gastric dialation and volvulus-commonly known as "bloat"-we rushed her to the medical center and the team there was amazing! They took us right in and immediately assessed her, quickly diagnosed the problem and with care and compassion explained our options and the plan. A surgeon was called in and within a few hours I received a phone call from the surgeon explaining in detail how the procedure went and the recovery process. She told me I could call as much as I wanted to check on her and that a critical care vet would call me today for a further update. I can not rave about this place enough! They took amazing care of my 1 and a half year old lab who was having bladder issues. Took us immediately, no waiting at all. Staff was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They calmed me down and took amazing care of my dog! The prices were extremely reasonable and I will recommend them to everyone I know!
