Main Paros Greece Island Towns

1. Parikia

Parikia is the capital of Paros and the main port on the island. This is where you’ll be coming into if you arrive on Paros Greece Island by ferry. It’s also a fun area to stay in as the ocean is lined with amazing restaurants and bars.

The old town is complete with a 13th century Frankish castle and the stunning whitewashed backstreets will rival those of Santorini and Mykonos. You can even stop by one of the oldest and most important churches in Greece at Panagia Ekatontapiliani.

You should know there are plenty of advantages to staying in the bustling town of Parikia. It’s easy to rent a vehicle from here to explore the rest of the island and the largest bus station is located next to the ferry port. In addition, the town is surrounded by beautiful beaches all within walking distance.

2. Naousa

If you aren’t staying in Parikia, Naoussa is the most popular seaside town to check out. The village is filled with fancy restaurants, boutique shops, and cute cafes. Our favorite place to eat in the center of town is Ragoussis Bakery. Be sure to try the baklava here!

There is also a 15th-century castle to walk out and discover that used to be vital in defending Paros from pirates. Much like Parikia, you won’t have to look far to take an afternoon swim either!

Naousa is a great jumping-off point to more beaches and small villages in the north of Paros in Greece. Ambelas and Livadi are fun beaches to stay in if you’d like to be close to Naousa.

3. Aliki

The day we made a trip to Aliki we couldn’t believe our eyes… What we thought would be just a small fishing village had an incredibly beautiful beach to swim in!

This is a common theme in most of the beach towns on Paros Island in Greece. Traditional villages, local food, and stunning beaches. I mean… Is there a better combo?!?

The harbor of Aliki is lined with delicious restaurants that can accommodate all different price ranges. This is another great choice for where to stay in Paros if you’re looking for some peace and quiet.

Although Aliki has increased in popularity over the years, it still keeps its traditional feel. Also, make sure to stop at the Cyclidic Folklore Museum for some history not far from the port.

4. Drios

Drios is a place that you might have seen in your dreams before coming to Paros in Greece! Located in the Southeastern part of Paros, this is truly a gem of a seaside town. The beach is filled with colorful pebbles and the small collection of local restaurants has epic views overlooking the ocean.

Many of the restaurants actually own farms and produce the agriculture and livestock themselves. Talk about farm to table! Within walking distance is also the famous Golden Beach (Chrissi Akti) where the World Windsurfing Championships are held.

5. Piso Livadi

About 6 km north of Drios, you will find the small fishing port of Piso Livadi. This area is famous for its fine Greek cuisine with many restaurants sitting out over the water. We particularly loved the vibe in Piso Livadi and found ourselves there for sunset drinks many nights.

From this little port, there are day trips organized to the smaller Cycladic islands. There are also many fine beaches surrounding the town that you can walk to and enjoy. Sitting above Piso Livadi is one of our favorite mountain towns which we will tell you about soon!

6. Lefkes

If you didn’t know, the must-see mountain town on Paros is called Lefkes! This is the ancient capital of the island and is complete with many local cafes and restaurants.

The main street of Ramnos flows elegantly into the old town and its whitewashed buildings. It’s easy to get lost in the winding paths, dip in and out of the shops, and enjoy a freddo espresso underneath the colorful architecture.

If you’re hungry try Klarinos Tavern and then head over to Sweet-Smelling Kitchen for dessert. This is also the starting point of a legendary Byzantine walking path to another beautiful mountain village. It’s 3.5 km long and has over 1,000 years of history.

7. Marpissa

Paros has many spectacular mountain villages but this one was our favorite! Marpissa dates back to the 16th century and its narrow stone alleyways take you back to the traditional Cyclades.

Stop in for dinner at the hidden tavern Haroula and hike up to the Agios Antonis Monastery for epic views. Even though it’s located in the mountains, you will still be just a 20-minute walk to Piso Livadi beach. We spent a few nights here and definitely recommend it for where to stay in Paros!

8. Prodromos & Marmara

In between the two mountain villages we just mentioned there is one more area to experience. Prodromos and Marmara are both small villages sitting across from each other. The Byzantine walking path we mentioned earlier goes from Lefkes and ends in Prodromos!

We were in awe of the historic churches and traditional setting here. It truly proves that there are so many different kinds of places to stay and visit on Paros Island.

Just keep in mind the accommodations are limited in these mountain villages. Luckily, it’s easy to see Prodromos and Marmara as part of a day trip if you have a vehicle.

Don’t Forget About Antiparos!

After all these amazing towns on Paros Island in Greece, there is one more place not to miss! Did you know there is another small island next to Paros? Antiparos is just a quick ferry ride away with many hiking trails and beaches to discover.

Nevertheless, the lovable main street in town was what really surprised us! We were expecting more of a sleepy island village but what we found was a lively strip of boutique shops, bars, and restaurants. It ends at the ruins of a 15th century Venetian castle which only adds to the allure of Paros’s next-door neighbor.

We absolutely loved Antiparos and highly recommend spending a couple of days here if you have time. We took the ferry from Naxos to Paros, then made a day trip to Antiparos from there. You can even take a boat tour that goes to the best swimming spots around Antiparos.
